Le pinceau

Le pinceau (du latin peniculus, petite queue) est un outil de peinture,
de dessin et d'écriture composé d'un manche et
munie à son extrémité d'une touffe de poils maintenue grâce à une ligature.

Avant l'arrivée du pinceau, les applications de peinture se faisaient
par "soufflage" à l'aide de tubes végétaux ou d'os creux.

Des recherches démontrent que les premiers pinceaux remontent à
environ 17000 ans avant notre ère.

Aux environs de 2500 ans avant notre ère, les Chinois
ont eu l'idée de placer les touffes de poils d'animaux
selon le degré souhaité de douceur ou de raideur
dans un bambou, afin de pouvoir écrire leurs idéogrammes
causant l'évolution technologique du pinceau.
L'innovation réside en un pinceau dont la touffe de poils est constituée
d'une colonne centrale et d'un manteau externe de longueur différente.
La colonne forme une pointe qui permet de varier l'épaisseur du trait,
et le centre de la touffe de retenir l'encre ou la peinture.

The paint brush

The brush (from the Latin peniculus, small tail)
is a tool of painting , drawing and writing and
consists of a handle and provided at its end with
a tuft of hair held together by a ligature.

Before the brush, paint applications were made
by "blowing" in plants tubes and hollow bones.

Research shows that the first brush were used
about 17,000 years ago.

Around 2500 BCE, the Chinese
had the idea to place the tufts of animal hair
according to the desired degree of softness or stiffness.
in a bamboo, in order to write their ideograms
causing a technological evolution of  the paint brush.
The innovation lies in a brush with a tuft of hair made
into a central column and an outer coat of a different length.
The column forms a point which allows varying the line thickness,
and the center of the  tuft of hair to retain the ink or paint.
