Notre compréhension moderne de la lumière et de la couleur
commence avec Isaac Newton (1642-1726)
et une série d'expériences qu'il publie en 1672.
Il est le premier à comprendre l'arc en ciel - il réfracte la lumière

Our modern understanding of light and color begins with Isaac Newton
(1642-1726) and a series of experiments that he publishes in 1672.
He is the first to understand the rainbow — he refracts white light with a prism,
resolving it into its component colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet.

In the late 1660s, Newton starts experimenting with his
’celebrated phenomenon of colors.’
At the time, people thought that color was a mixture of light
and darkness, and that prisms colored light.

Newton realizes this theory was false.

Newton set up a prism near his window, and projected a beautiful spectrum
22 feet onto the far wall. Further, to prove that the prism was not coloring the light,
he refracted the light back together.

Light enters the prism from the top right, and is refracted by the glass.

Pour Kant, le rôle de la couleur est secondaire et sert uniquement
d'ornement pour améliorer la forme.

Kant affirme que le jugement esthétique doit

Aesthetic judgments are disinterested.

For Kant the role of color is solely that of ornement to enhance form.

Kant claims that the aesthetic judgment must
concern itself only with form (line and composition)
in the object presented (painting), not sensible content (color, tone)
since the latter has a deep connection to the agreeable, and thus to interest.

Color is secondary to preserve the universality of line,

Il n'y a qu'une seule façon de minimiser les craintes
de devenir et d'être peintre (pas de revenus fixes,
le doute de soi, le vol de tes idées, ne pas être pris au sérieux,
pas assez original, ce n'est pas un vrai travail)
et d'améliorer ta capacité de fonctionner pendant la
durée de ta vie en peinture: La peinture Sisyphéenne.
Les apprentis peintres qui ne peuvent pas résister à la pression,
décrochent pendant le processus d'apprentissage ou
au cours de leur première, ou deuxième, ou troisième
expositions sans ventes.
Albert Camus, dans son essai de 1942 Le Mythe de Sisyphe,
vois Sisyphe personnifiant l'absurdité de la vie humaine,
et Camus conclut: "Il faut imaginer Sisyphe heureux" étant donné que
"La lutte elle-même vers les sommets suffit à
remplir un cœur d'homme ".

Action Painting et peinture Champ de Couleur

L'expressionnisme abstrait peut être divisé en deux grandes subdivisions:
l'Action Painting, qui est venu en premier, et l'abstraction chromatique ou
Champ de Couleur (Color Field).

En règle général, les Action Painters emploient l'égouttement,

Pour les expressionnistes abstraits, l'authenticité
ou la valeur d'une œuvre
réside dans son immédiateté et l'instantanéité de l'expression.

Abstraction chromatique, Champ de Couleur, Color Field

Les peintres de Champ de Couleur préfèrent une approche
saturé à l'application de la peinture.
Ils croient dans le potentiel expressif de simplification,
à la prédominance de champs de couleur, à la pureté de ceux-ci.
Le résultat est, en général, de réflexion et cérébral,
avec des moyens picturaux simplifiées afin de créer un
impact élémentaire.

Action Painting and Color Field Painting

Abstract Expressionism can be broken into two large subdivisions:
Action Painting, which came first, and Color Field Painting.

Directness of expression is essential and achieved through lack of intent.
Action Paintings generally have a more violent, frenzied
appearance, while Color Field Paintings have a calmer,
almost spiritual quality.

Gesture: Action Painting

-The paintings aesthetic is nonobjective and nonfigurative
while they document the artists' existential struggle.

-Subject matter: the artist expresses everything from
personal feelings to universal liberty concerns.
With the Action Painters, the physical act
of painting becomes, to a certain extent, the subject matter.

Style: Not really a coherent style so much as an attitude
against traditional styles and techniques, and "finished"
works. The painters do share in common their reliance
on liberty of self-expression.
Generally, "Action Painters" employ dripping, splatter, pouring,
or other aggressive techniques in an effort to be
spontaneous and instinctive.

For Abstract Expressionists, the authenticity or value of a work
lays in its directness and immediacy of expression.
A painting is meant to be a revelation of the artist's authentic identity.
The gesture, the artist's "signature," is evidence of the actual process
of the work's creation.

Color Field Painting

Color Field Painters prefer a saturated approach to paint application.
They believe in the expressive potential of simplified, color-dominated fields.
The result is, in general, reflective and cerebral,
with pictorial means simplified in order to create a kind of elemental impact.
Certain artists quoted references to past or present art,
but in general color field painting presents abstraction as an end in itself.

Contemplation esthétique

Contempler c'est percevoir.

Comme peintre tu crées une œuvre faite pour toucher un public.
La contemplation esthétique c'est l'état de disponibilité dans lequel,
toi-même comme peintre ou un public,
est supposé apprécier tes peintures.
Il y a expérience de contemplation esthétique,
dans la mesure où existe une forme de réceptivité à une œuvre.
Celle-ci n’existant que chez l’amateur d’art.

Tu peux constater que la contemplation esthétique
contient à la fois une dimension de passivité dans la réceptivité
qui fait que tu peux un moment t' immerger dans la présence sensible ( l'œuvre),
et une dimension d’activité,
car l’expérience de la contemplation esthétique
est en même temps pour l’intelligence un éveil.
Elle parle à l'intelligence, sans pour autant provenir de la pensée.

La contemplation esthétique est aussi une distance, sensible et attentive,
capable d’apprécier, d’observer et de goûter l’harmonie des formes.
Quand tu vas dans un atelier de peintre, dans un musée, ou dans une galerie,
c'est pour rafraîchir tes sens, pour te laisser toucher.

Comme peintre, tu travailles à cette sensibilité esthétique
qui te permet d’appréhender l’individualité
des choses et des êtres par delà les concepts de l’intellect.
La valeur suprême de la peinture, pour toi,
c'est de t'amener à une relation sensible avec le monde,
de te faire découvrir et rencontrer ta vérité:
liberté de penser et liberté d'accès aux connaissances de la peinture,
par la voie de la sensibilité, ci-nommée contemplation esthétique.

Aesthetic contemplation.

To contemplate is to perceive.

As a painter you create works made to reach a public.
Aesthetic contemplation is the availability status in which,
yourself as a painter or a public,
is supposed to enjoy your paintings.
There is an aesthetic contemplation experience
when there is a form of receptivity to a work.
This occurs only in the art lover.

You can see that an aesthetic contemplation
contains at the same time
a dimension of passivity in the responsiveness
which make it possible for a moment to be immersed
in the sensible presence (the work),
and a dimension of activity,
for an aesthetic contemplation experience
is also an awakening for the intelligence.
It speaks to the intellect, without coming from thought.

Aesthetic contemplation is also a distance, sensitive and attentive,
able to appreciate, observe and enjoy the harmony of forms.
When you go into a painter's studio, in a museum or a gallery,
it is to refresh your senses, to let yourself be touched.

As a painter, you work at this aesthetic sensibility
that allows you to capture the individuality of
things and beings beyond the concepts of the intellect.
The supreme value of painting for you,
is to have a sensitive relationship with the world,
to make you discover and find your truth:
freedom of thought and freedom of access to knowledge of painting,

Chez Nietzsche, le perspectivisme ne signifie pas " à chacun sa vérité "
mais il signifie d'avoir un point de vue
comme condition de la manifestation du "vrai".
Le "vrai", la "vérité", pour toi, comme peintre,
étant la liberté de penser, et la liberté
d'acquérir les connaissances propres à la peinture qui te permet de créer.

Tes Portraits Perspectivistes sont comme autant de " petits mondes perspectifs"
qui représentent bien-sûr l'Être, mais représentent surtout
ta force créatrice, à ta façon et dans ton style.

L'application

Création / invention de portraits à points de fuite multiples.

En peinture de portraits, comme dans toutes autres oeuvres,
bientôt, le symbole fait place à la réalité
et le rendu perspectif de l'espace devient une préoccupation majeure.
Dans le cadre de la représentation de la réalité en perspective conique,
le dessin perspectif est d'abord réalisé comme dessin sur un plan,
puis organisé en profondeur.

Les éléments visuels qui sont peint dans la structure espace-temps
du plan pictural de la représentation en deux dimensions
d'une scène en trois dimensions, ( les portraits )
et la distorsion longitudinale perçue,

According to Nietzsche, perspectivism does not mean "to each his own truth",
it means to have a perspective
as a condition for the manifestation of the "truth".
The "real", the "truth" for you, as a painter,
is freedom of thought, and freedom to acquire the specific
knowledge specific to painting that allows you to create.

Your Perspectivists Portraits are like so many "small perspectivists worlds "
which of course represent a Being,
but mainly represent your creative force, in your way and your style.

The application

Creation / invention of multiple vanishing points portraits.

In portrait painting, as in all other works,
soon, symbol gives way to reality
and the perspective rendering of space becomes a major concern.
As part of the representation of reality in conical perspective,
the perspective drawing is first made as drawing on a plane,
then organized for depth.

The visual elements being painted in the
space-time picture plane structure
of the two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional scene
being viewed ( the portraits ),
and the perceived longitudinal distorsion,
are due to side-by-side
multiple vanishing point perspective
pointing towards the moving observer,
contrary to " traditionals " portraits,
where you have only one (1) vanishing point
and a still observer.

Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten est né à Berlin en 1714-1762.

La ré appréciation de l'esthétique par Baumgarten est souvent considéré
comme le moment clé du
développement de la philosophie esthétique.
Auparavant, le mot avait simplement voulu dire «sensibilité»
ou «la réactivité à la stimulation des sens» dans son utilisation par les auteurs anciens.
Avec le développement de l'art comme une entreprise commerciale liée à l'arrivée

Peinture à un temps: Il faut introduire une composante qui n'est pas accentuée chez Kant,
même si elle est souterrainement présente,
à savoir le rapport à un public, le rapport à un amateur, au sens fort du mot;
car c'est du côté du récepteur de l'œuvre d'art que se révèle une autre historicité,
celle de la réception.
C'est peut-être l'historicité de la réception que nous pouvons le mieux déchiffrer,
à la faveur de la constitution des permanences à travers leur historicité:
comme si l'œuvre d'art se créait un public temporellement ouvert et indéfini.
Mais alors qu'y a-t-il entre les deux? Réponse: la monstration,

It is necessary to introduce a component which is not accentuated by Kant,
even if it is present in a subterranean way, namely the connection with a public,
the connection with an amateur, in the strong sense of the word,
for it is on the side of the receiver of the work of art that there is revealed another historicity,
that of reception. It is perhaps the historicity of the reception that we can best decipher,
in favor of the constitution of permanences across their historicity:
as if the work of art created for itself a temporally open and indefinite public.
But then what is there between the two?
Answer: monstration, the fact that a work of art aims, beyond the intentionality of its author,
and insofar as it is a work of art, to be shared, therefore first of all to be shown.
One can then return one by one to the arts in order to show in what way each exhibits its
« monstravity, » its capacity to be shared between the creator and his public.

Le dictionnaire Anglais Oxford définit la pureté comme
"la qualité ou la condition d'être pure: l'état d'être sans mélange ...
la liberté de ce qui contamine, souille, corrompt, ou avilit ;. propreté physique "
Une telle caractérisation comprend deux composantes essentielles;
l'idée de pureté générique
et s'oppose catégoriquement à la «mixité »,
et l'idée de pureté, comme un attribut souhaitable et idéalisé.

Les 2 idées de pureté en peinture sont l'étreinte complète du médium
en tant que forme et contenu combinés,
ou son contraire, le refus du médium.
Selon Platon et Kant,
toute utilisation des médiums sert à corrompre
la pureté des idées intellectuelles.
Platon s'oppose au médiums sur le principe,
pour leur incapacité à reproduire la vérité
et l'intensité des idées pures.

La raison de tenter de développer par la peinture
un pur moyen d'accès à l'âme de l'artiste

The Oxford English dictionary defines purity as the
"quality or condition of being pure: the state of being unmixed...
freedom from manner that contaminates, defiles, corrupts, or debases; physical cleanliness."
Such a characterization includes two key components;
the idea of purity which generically and categorically opposes itself to "mixing",
and the idea of purity as a desirable and idealized attribute.

The 2 ideas of purity in painting is the complete embrace of that medium as form
and content combined,
or the complete opposite, that is the denial of the medium.
According to Plato and Kant,
any use of media at all serves to taint and corrupt the purity of intellectual ideas.
Plato opposes media on principle,
for their inability to ever truly reproduce the truth and intensity of pure ideas.

The reason to attempt to develop a pure means of access to the soul of the artist
is to be free of ulterior motives such as money, fame.

Nonetheless, the potential for "good" mixed media painting is simply
part and parcel of any painter's existential art experience.

Pour Hegel la plus mauvaise des productions de l'homme
sera toujours supérieure au plus beau des paysages,
car l'œuvre d'art est le moyen privilégié par lequel l'esprit humain se réalise.

L'histoire de l'art se divise en trois, suivant la forme et le contenu de l'art :

    * art symbolique, oriental, baroque, où la forme excède le contenu ;
    * art classique, grec, classique, qui est l'équilibre de la forme et du contenu ;
    * art romantique, chrétien, romantique, où le contenu absorbe la forme.

Reflection on the art involves the end of art,
in the sense that this is an overrun of the sensing element to pure and free thought.

For Hegel the worst productions of man
will always be superior to the most beautiful landscapes,
because the artwork is the preferred means by which the human mind is realized.

Peut-être le plus célèbre des revendications de Hegel sur l'art est que l'art touche à sa fin.
Comme l'Esprit atteint la pleine réalisation de soi, la nécessité pour les images et
symboles s'éloigne,
et avec elle la nécessité d'un art qui utilise des moyens physiques pour s'exprimer.
Hegel ne semble pas avoir voulu dire par là
que l'art s'arrêterait tout à fait, mais plutôt que la nécessité pour l'art,
et son rôle dans le développement de l'esprit serait remplies.

La thèse de la fin de l'art a eu une nouvelle incarnation dans les travaux d'Arthur Danto,
qui (avec mention de Hegel), a avancé une thèse similaire sur l'art moderne.
Selon Danto, l'art visuel de l'occident, dans la période de la Renaissance
jusqu'à un passé très récent (par exemple, 1970), a eu une histoire linéaire.
Que l'on souhaite appeler cela progrès ou non, à chaque étape de cette histoire,
il fallait aller de l'avant si l'on voulait être un artiste sérieux.
Mais cette histoire a pris fin, avec des œuvres comme Brillo Box de Warhol,
dans laquelle « l'art est devenu philosophie »,
et on ne peut plus différencier les œuvres d'art de
ce qui ne l'est pas, simplement en les regardant.
Depuis lors, l'histoire linéaire a été remplacé par
un pluralisme dans lequel (presque) tout est permis.

End of art

Perhaps the most famous of Hegel's claims about art is that art comes to an end.
As Spirit reaches its full self-realization, the need for images and symbols withers away,
and with it goes the need for any art that uses physical means to express itself.
Hegel does not seem to have meant by it that art would stop
altogether; but rather that the need for it, and its role in the development of spirit would
be fulfilled.

The end of art thesis has had a new incarnation in the work of Arthur Danto,
who (with acknowledgments to Hegel), has advanced a similar thesis about modern art.
According to Danto, western visual art, in the period from the Renaissance
to the very recent past (say, 1970), has had a linear history.
Whether one wishes to call it progress or not, at each stage in that history,
one had to move forward if one wished to be a serious artist.
But that history has come to an end, with works like Warhol's Brillo Box,
in which "art has become philosophy", and one can no longer tell works of art from
other things just by looking at them. Since then, the linear history has been replaced by
a pluralism in which (almost) anything goes.
